MONTHLY MANNA
EXCELLENCE verses MEDIOCRITY
– SAMRAJ HOPPER
The tendency to accomplish any given task in an excellent manner is embedded within every human being. The reason being, the Creator Lord God himself does things excellently from the beginning.
After creating things one by one, the Creator Lord God saw his creation as ‘GOOD’. This is faithfully recorded in the 1st Chapter of the Holy Bible in the book of Genesis.
Excellence is a much better word to denote ‘Good’ and Mediocrity is the antonym of excellence. Laziness, procrastination, settling down for inferior, being slothful and a whole a lot of things are associated with Mediocrity.
When Jesus Christ lived in this world, there never was an occasion when he did things mediocre. Whether it be turning the water into wine or giving sight to the blind and just calming down the fever, there always was a tinge of excellence associated with it. His answers to trouble mongers were always excellent which spread his aura far and wide.
Throughout history, when you scroll down the list of people who stood out from the maddening crowd, you will find that it was always their quest for excellence that distinguished them from the rest.
Every creative action, whether it is a spoken word, or a written text, or a thing being made, must have your 100% commitment. God has put within each one of us the ability to be creative and be ‘Godlike’.
Kindly take a look at this Bible verse from The Message Translation “God created human beings; he created them Godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!” (Genesis 1:27-28).
What is God’s nature? Verse 31 of Genesis chapter 1 says “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good”. The very nature of God is doing things excellently. He continues His creative ability through his Godlike creations… you and me!
If you believe you are ‘Godlike’ and you are reflecting God’s nature you can never settle down for mediocrity. Everything associated with mediocrity in your life will start vanishing once you start driving on the highway of excellence.
But there is a rider. Excellence doesn’t reveal itself overnight. It requires a lot of planning, involvement, dedication, hard work, keeping you abreast of all technological advances, being ready for correction or admonition and the desire to strive for the best and only for the best.
In the process of your journey towards excellence, if you or your creativity is found to be second best or third best, it is okay for today. But the dawn of a new day always brings with it God’s abundant grace and abilities to excel. Take hold of every opportunity to excel, fill your ambitions and creative actions with promises from God’s Holy Word and take wings towards excellence. Who knows, your excellent creative work may change the course of world history! Join with Apostle Paul and say aloud “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the ONE who makes me who I am” (Philippians 4:13 – MSG).
